BENDIGO REGIONAL MANUFACTURING GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW CHAIR AND DEPUTY CHAIR

The Bendigo Regional Manufacturing Group (BRMG), a manufacturing advisory committee to the City of Greater Bendigo, is proud to announce the appointment of its new Chair and Deputy Chair as the group continues to drive growth, innovation, and collaboration within the regional manufacturing sector.

Sean Myers, Automotive Product Owner at Bortana, Victoria’s only electric vehicle manufacturer, will assume the role of Chair, while Allan Nicholson, Business Development Manager at Bendigo Rail Workshops, will take on the position of Deputy Chair. Both Mr. Myers and Mr. Nicholson are esteemed professionals with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry. Mr Myers said he was “thrilled to take on the position of group Chair and look forward to championing the concerns and causes of the manufacturing members”.

Outgoing Chairperson Mark Brennan, who has served as Chair of the BRMG with distinction for six years, will be stepping down from the role, along with Deputy Chair Paul Chapman of Australian Turntable Company. Their contributions have been instrumental in advancing the manufacturing sector in Bendigo. “The time was right to transition the group” Mr Brennan said, “New leadership brings, fresh perspective, ideas and direction. It has been a privilege to represent the industry in this role and I am confident that the BRMG is well positioned for both Sean and Allan to take the group forward.”

The Bendigo Regional Manufacturing Group has a proud 22-year history and is dedicated to fostering innovative and high-value manufacturing, with a strong focus on growth, innovation, and collaboration. Its mission is to deliver positive economic outcomes, job opportunities, resilience, and the ability to pivot and capture emerging opportunities.

Currently, the BRMG’s top priority is advocating for the Goldfields LLEN Passions and Pathways Program to secure long-term support and funding for the initiative a key focus for Sean Myers and Allan Nicholson to advance. In terms of existing project support the Bendigo Regional Employment Precinct (BREP) remains a key priority long term for growth in the region’s manufacturing. Mr Brennan advised “The BRMG will continue to advocate for BREP where possible, estimates have shown that up to 3,000 jobs will be created when this site is realised”.

The new leadership team is poised to build upon the group’s rich legacy and continue its mission to strengthen Bendigo’s manufacturing sector. The transition of leadership will officially commence in January 2024, allowing the current Chair and Deputy Chair to see out their responsibilities for the remainder of 2023.
