The Bendigo Regional Manufacturing Group (BRMG) extends its appreciation to the Federal Government for its steadfast recognition of the pivotal role manufacturing plays in fostering sustained prosperity for all Australians. The recently unveiled Federal Budget 2024 features a tangible commitment to bolstering the manufacturing sector, unlocking opportunities for industry stakeholders and communities alike.
“The BRMG welcomes Government recognising the critical importance of Manufacturing, and its part in the ongoing prosperity for all Australians,” stated Sean Myers, Chairperson of the BRMG. “Regardless of views or opinion on this budget, what it does deliver is opportunity, and it’s up to us as stakeholders in our future to make the most of any opportunity.”
At the core of the Budget 2024 lies the visionary Future Made in Australia package, reflecting the commitment to nurturing a robust economy grounded in industry and science. With an allocation of $22.7 billion, this initiative highlights the profound synergies between industry, energy, resources, and skills, paving the way for Australia to emerge as a global leader in innovation and production.
The government’s commitment to bolstering research and development (R&D) and nurturing a diverse STEM workforce underscores its proactive stance towards fostering innovation and driving long-term success. With a strategic examination of Australia’s R&D system on the horizon, coupled with a $38.2 million investment in supporting diversity in STEM fields.
The BRMG, in collaboration with innovation partners such as Central Victorian Advanced Manufacturing (CVAM), is alert to seize the opportunities presented by Budget 2024/25.
